Hello and Welcome to the DD Suggestion Guide for the Film & Animation Galleries. These galleries are currently run by TimberClipse and kingmancheng

Please take a look below to see the rules and suggestions we have for suggesting Daily Deviations.

Strict Guidelines

  • We can only feature a deviant every six months
  • Deviations must be part of the Film & Animation Gallery
  • The deviation must contain work created by the person(s) uploading the deviation. Any additional material you such as images, music and all other content that isn't produced by you must be cleared with the proper licence and permissions.
  • Please only send a suggestion to one of the community volunteers
  • We will not feature all suggestions that are sent, but please don't keep that from sending us more!
  • If you suggest, we will include your name unless you specifically request that we keep the suggestion anonymous.

Suggestions for Suggesting

  • We look for pieces that have a well rounded creation
    • i.e. Good imagery, story, music, dialogue, etc.
  • Include a description with your suggestion.
    • Although we can write about the deviation, if you tell us why you like it we will include what you write, and it will help explain to us why the piece is worthy of the feature.

How to Suggest

  1. Go to the deviation and find the URL or Thumbcode and paste it into a new note.
TUT: Thumb Codes, Links + Emb. by TimberClipse
  2. Write a short description
  3. Send it off!

How we Decide

If you're taking the time to suggest, you might as well be aware of how we decide.
  • We receive suggestions.
  • We send them to the other community volunteer.
  • We watch them all the way through.
  • We then discuss what we like and dislike.
  • If we both believe they are "excellent", then we will feature the deviation!
  • If one of us is against it, we will discuss the possibility of featuring it and decide on a case by case basis.
In the past we have had certain films submitted that just haven't had the perfect spark, here's some of the specifics of what we each look for. These are also great aspects for filmmakers and animators to keep in mind when creating a new film.
  • Cinematography/Animation (the pretty factor)
  • Story/Script/Dialogue (this is very important for any film)
  • Use of music-or use of no music (as a way to enhance the story)
  • Originality (if we have seen it a million times, that may not be best)
  • Length (if it is too short to tell the story or feels like it drags on)
  • Perceived Effort (does it look like this was tossed together with no thought or does it seem like real work was put in)
Thanks so much for being a part of deviantART Film!
